The casting industry and predominately the automotive casting industry sector uses a large range of assembly and test automation equipment. TQC have been supplying solutions to leading casting companies within this sector for many years. The majority of the equipment is for leak testing cast metal parts to ensure there is no porosity or other leak paths. However, TQC have completed projects for flow testing, high pressure testing, machining and assembly.
Equipment supplied includes leak testing systems for various engine cast components such as engine blocks, cylinder heads, cam covers, clutch cases, and gearbox housings. TQC have tested most cast metal items under the bonnet that are required to be leak tested.
With castings getting more and more complex to accommodate the requirements associated with electric vehicles it is now more important than ever to leak test and carry out extra assembly operations. The more complex the casting, the more cavities are present and more features that need to be tested. TQC are well-positioned to offer solutions for these complex castings.
To complement the leak testing functionality, TQC can incorporate a number of additional operations either combined within the leak test machine or as separate equipment. Many assembly operations have been automated such as seal fitting, RTV sealant application or glue dispensing, ball insertion, and fastener insertion and screwing. Equipment can include checking operations using vision measurement, parts presence detection and final pass marking via percussion (dot peen, dot scribe) or laser marking. An end of line leak test solution can integrate the final leak testing along with assembly operations, checking and part marking.
TQC supply a standard series of leak testing solutions for use in the castings industry and these have been developed over the year to include many different customer requirements.
